Wisdom Teeth are the last teeth in the mouth and usually appear during the late teens. More often than not, these teeth do not erupt properly within the mouth. These teeth can be trapped under the gum and/or bone, other times they can grow sideways causing pressure on the other teeth. This may cause infection, severe pain, swelling and stiffness. Early evaluation and treatment of impacted wisdom teeth are recommended to avoid future problems and decrease surgical risks and complications.
A surgical extraction refers to removal of a tooth or the tooth roots with minimum trauma to the surrounding tissue.
